Assassin's Creed Unveils Surprising Attack on Titan Crossover for Thanksgiving

In a bizarre collaboration that challenges conventional predictions, the game developer has revealed an in-game partnership between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the acclaimed anime series Attack on Titan. The unusual holiday event continues from November 25 through December 22, including no-cost extra story content for Shadows players.

Strange Adventure Disclosed

According to the official announcement, "A mysterious meeting leads characters Naoe and Yasuke into a new quest, where rumors of banned ceremonies and monstrous changes echo through the darkness." The plot introduces a "oddly attired woman named Ada" who tasks the duo with journeying into the Gemstone Grotto—a important location from Attack on Titan—to save her ally from a hidden group.

The mission centers on "peculiar trials and a terrifying foe" and is available to all players who have unlocked the Yasuke character.

Recognizable Locations and Changes

The teaser showcases the Underground Chapel from Attack on Titan recreated as the Crystal Cave. This historic location was previously where the Reiss royal family transmitted the Founding Titan ability through generations. The teaser finishes with a striking sequence showing a character, likely the prisoner, transforming into a Titan that towers over Naoe and Yasuke.

Special Rewards and Additional Material

Players who successfully complete the quest will obtain an unique katana in addition to several artifacts secreted throughout the area in secret chests. The update also contains purchasable Attack on Titan item packs, offering:

  • Titan-themed costume for Yasuke
  • Mikasa attire for Naoe
  • Unique implements
  • Survey Corps mount

Third Free Story Update

This patch also introduces the game's latest no-cost story episode, titled "A Puzzlement." This playful quest pairs Naoe and Yasuke as they trade characteristic abilities: Naoe introduces a performative interpretation of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke learns subduing stealth takedowns. True to its name, "A Puzzlement" also features a fresh environmental puzzle that may ultimately shed light on some unanswered questions from the main storyline.

Earlier Anime Partnerships

This signifies hardly the initial time the Assassin's Creed franchise has partnered with well-known anime properties. The series previously showcased a 2020 crossover story connecting Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Furthermore, Valhalla subtly included a quest that unmistakably referenced the famous series One-Punch Man.
